Poco oltre la scogliera, il CAI 053 volta a destra seguendo le pendici del monte e dopo un centinaio di metri è già all’interno della Foresta Sacra della Verna. Un bosco che non ha uguali, o simili, in tutto il Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi, caratterizzato da un “armonioso disordine”. Secondo la filosofia francescana, qui, da secoli, la foresta non è stata “coltivata” come hanno fatto i monaci camaldolesi. Qui è stata lasciata libera di crescere secondo natura e non secondo le regole dell’uomo generalmente atte a ricavare profitto dal bosco. In prevalenza troviamo faggio e abete, ma sono presenti tante altre specie di piante. Just beyond the cliff, the CAI 053 turns right following the slopes of the mountain and after a hundred meters it is already inside the Sacred Forest of La Verna. A wood that has no equal, or similar, in the whole National Park of the Casentinesi Forests, characterized by a "harmonious disorder". According to Franciscan philosophy, the forest has not been "cultivated" here for centuries as the Camaldolese monks did. Here it has been left free to grow according to nature and not according to the rules of man generally aimed at making a profit from the forest. We mainly find beech and fir, but there are many other plant species.
