A WORK OF ART FROM SANTA TRINITA
Carda, Church of Saints Flora and Lucilla. "Christ in Piety and Saints" polyptych by Mariotto di Cristofano. Approximately in 1426. This work of art comes from Badia Santa Trinita in Alpe. It was commissioned to the painter from San Giovanni Valdarno, brother-in-law of Masaccio, by the Vallombrosian monks who had taken over the abbey in 1425. In the Church of Carda there are other works besides this polyptych. Among these, a ceramic Madonna with Child dating back to 1520 and attributed to Santi Buglioni deserves to be mentioned.
