A DANTESQUE SOURCE
Casentino is the first valley through which the Arno flows. The source of this river (in this picture) that flows through art cities like Florence and Pisa is located on Mount Falterona. The spring, at the altitude of 1358 metres, is a place of Dantesque remembrance. The verses that the illustrious poet dedicates to the Arno river in the Divine Comedy are engraved on a commemorative plaque placed on a rock next to the spot where the water springs from the mountain.
"Through midst of Tuscany there wanders
A streamlet that is born in Falterona,
And not a hundred miles of course suffice it..."
