FLORENCE, ONE HOUR AWAY FROM THE CASENTINO
Florence: evening view of the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella. The church, which was intended for the Dominican Order, was built from about 1270 until the middle of the 14th century. Other works, such as exterior and interior reconstructions and decorations, lasted a long time. Its unmistakable façade, which was designed in its upper part by the architect Leon Battista Alberti, was completed in 1470.
This Tuscan city, which is the capital of the Italian Renaissance, can be reached from the Casentino on average within an hour by car.
